As well as the 7 day program there is also a 6 month Surf Instructor & Beach Lifeguard course run each winter from October through till April. This comprehensive course will gain you the RLSS Beach Lifeguard qualification, ISA Surf Instructor Level 1, First Aid, Cardiac First Responder as well as in depth background on surfing and its history.

Travel the world as an ISA surf instructor & RLSS beach lifeguard
Each year Splashsports owner Phillip Fitzgibbon runs an ISA approved instructor course through Kerry College.Develop knowledge, skills, competencies and recognised qualifications in surfing, lifeguarding, first aid, instructing and outdoor activities.

The course is run by the ISA (Irish surfing association) & the IWSA (Irish Water Safety Association). The course program is run over 7 days. The first 5 days of the course is the Beach lifeguard done by the RLSS and the last 2 days are spent with the ISA doing your surf instructors course. On successful completion you will have to log 20 hour teaching with a surf school to validate your certification.
Waterworld is a great place to do your surf instructors course with lecture rooms overlooking the beach, heated indoor pool for all the IWSA pool work and the surf close to the centre ever thing you need is on hand. Accommodation is also available at a special rate for surf instructor candidates
